Athena Capital Partners sponsors the formation, investment in, launch, and growth of new business initiatives, including both startups and also the acquisition and transformation of going concerns. Athena will explore and potentially consummate investments in any business sector other than Oil and Gas Exploration or Real Estate. The firm's investment spectrum includes (but is not restricted to) opportunities involving operational under-performance or bankruptcy reorganization, as well as special situations that entail resolving complex legal, regulatory, ownership, capital structure, or other analytic issues. While Athena will consider opportunities throughout the United States, its main locus of investment activity is Southern California.

Athena sponsors corporate investment transactions ranging from small (startups, or established revenues of roughly $5-$50 million) to mid-sized (established revenues of $50-$300 million). Athena maintains relationships with a large and varied group of institutional private equity firms and other capital sources nationwide, and selectively involves firms whose transaction parameters and areas of capability best match the needs of a particular investment situation. Athena may co-invest alongside the lead investor it introduces or, as circumstances warrant, in smaller situations function as the lead investor itself.

The firm's scope of practice incorporates elements of both direct private equity investing and investment banking.
